Handhelds
In a class I took last semester we got to work with the Palm OS’. On those Palms’ there was a program that would help a teacher when giving students DIBELS tests. This was a very neat program that I think would be so amazing to have and to use in school districts. At first I was a little skeptical because I didn’t know how to use the program and figured it would be confusing to learn. However, it was a very self-explanatory program and found it to be very useful and helpful. This is my overall feeling about handhelds. I think that if the program is self-explanatory and easy to use then it will be very beneficial to students and teachers. That is I feel one of the major uses of technology, ease of use. It is easier to type a paper than it would be to hand write one. So we should make sure that this applies to all parts of technology.

We'll try to expand your knowledge about handhelds next week. DIBELS is a great example of how to use handhelds for assessment. There are a lot of other uses too! Just another piece of technology to think about - it doesn't have to be all about computers.
I would LOVE to use this for DIBELS!!! That would be so helpful and less time consuming than what I do right now. There are so many things that teachers could do with this piece of technology!
