Technology Lesson
I was really nervous when thinking about my technology lesson plan for some reason. I wanted to think of this really unique and cool way to use technology in the classroom. Finally I just realized that is doesn't need to be the most unique idea or "cool" idea, but rather a way to help students utilize what is available. So I just opened up a lesson that I had previosly created and thought of a practical way to use it in this classroom. This was the most beneficial thing for me. I didn't want to think of some elaborate, lesson that I know could never be used in the classroom. I wanted to create something that was definitely possible, and students could reasonably do.

I was trying to think of something really cool and unique too when I was designing my lesson plan. Instead, I started thinking about something that would be very useful in a unit that I already teach.
I think it's always a good idea to use technology in ADDITION to traditional or original lessons or units in the classroom. We shouldn't just be coming up with a REASON to use technology in our lessons. So I think that you came up with your lesson plan in a very practical way.
I think the same thing could go with the digital stories that we watched tonight - instead of coming up with a reason to use the dig. story, take an old lesson and see if you can use a digital story in it.
We also have to make sure we aren't "forcing technology." I know some teachers that say "Oh, I don't use enough technology in my lessons" and then they throw technology in somehow and it just makes the lesson worse!
I totally felt the same way!! I wanted to come up with something really cool, but in the end I thought it would be better to come up with a lesson that I could actually use and something that the students could benefit from! Integration is definitely the key!
I was having the same problem. I think the more you teach, the more you realize that the "simple" lessons can sometimes provide the most powerful lesson. It also really becomes a time motivator. Unfortunately the reality of teaching is that there just isn't enough time in the day, or year, to provide so many unique and elaborate lessons. There is just too much material to cover...
I agree with you completely! I struggled for a long time with what I was going to do! I finally took a piece of what we were already doing at school and thought of a way to incorporate technology. I was definitely stressing and am still stressing as I'm not sure if what I created is really the angle I was looking for! The nice part about teaching is you always have the option to change things as you go, nothing is set in stone!
